To rent a trailer from Westshore Rentals in Tampa you need four things: a valid driver's license, valid auto insurance, a valid credit card for the refundable deposit, and a tow-capable vehicle in good working order. Authorized operators must be 21 or older. Your driver's license may be verified with the Florida DMV at our discretion.

How much does it cost to rent a trailer in Tampa?

Trailer rentals at Westshore Rentals start at $40 for a half day rental and vary by trailer type and size. Shorter jobs can be booked by the hour with a 4-hour minimum, which is usually cheaper than a full day. Before you confirm, you will see the full price broken out — the rental, 7.5% Florida sales tax, the card processing fee of 3%, and the refundable security deposit — with no charge added later that you have not already seen.

Do you deliver trailers, or is it pickup only?

Westshore Rentals does both. You can collect your trailer from our yard at 3205 S 54th St in Tampa, or we will deliver it anywhere in the Tampa Bay area. Delivery is free within 3 miles of the yard; beyond that it is a $30 minimum or $5.00 per mile, whichever is greater, and the exact figure is shown before you book. We deliver to Tampa, Brandon, Riverview, Valrico, Seffner, Temple Terrace, Plant City, Wesley Chapel, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Lutz, Land O' Lakes, St. Petersburg and Clearwater.

How does the security deposit work?

Westshore Rentals takes a refundable security deposit by credit card at the time of booking — card only, no cash deposits. The deposit is not part of the rental price and is not taxed. It is refunded in full within 24 hours after the trailer is returned and inspected without damage.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Most Westshore Rentals trailers are available immediately in Tampa. Some trailers are in higher demand than others. You can check live availability for any trailer online before you call.

What kinds of trailers do you rent?

Westshore Rentals rents four types of trailer in Tampa, Florida: enclosed cargo trailers for anything that needs to stay dry, car and truck haulers for moving vehicles, dump trailers for construction debris and landscaping, and open utility trailers for general hauling. Every trailer comes with heavy-duty tie-down straps, loading ramps and tools included at no extra charge.

Do I need a special license to tow a trailer?

No. A standard Florida driver's license is enough to tow every trailer Westshore Rentals rents — no CDL or special endorsement is required. What matters is that your vehicle is rated to tow the loaded weight. What vehicle do I need to tow a rental trailer?

You need a tow-capable vehicle in good working order with a hitch rated for the loaded weight of the trailer. Most SUVs and half-ton pickups handle most of our trailers. Our 7x14 dump trailer and our equipment trailers are designed to carry extremely heavy loads, so a properly capable vehicle is required. Westshore Rentals gives every customer a short walkthrough on hitching, loading and strapping down before the trailer leaves the yard, at the customer's discretion. What if I need to cancel a trailer I booked?

Accepted Answer

We understand life happens and plans change. If your Westshore Rentals booking is cancelled more than 24 hours before the start date and time, you will receive a 100% refund. Within 24 hours of the start, no refund is provided.

Question 11

What if I am late dropping off a trailer?

Accepted Answer

Give Westshore Rentals a call at (813) 593-4133. We generally allow 1 hour of forgiveness on a late return. Beyond that hour we charge $25 per hour.

Question 12

What if I lose the keys, straps or locks?

Accepted Answer

Westshore Rentals charges the value of the item lost, plus the cost of replacing it — the run to the store and back to the yard — so the trailer is complete before the next renter collects it.

Question 13

Can I pay cash instead of by card?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Westshore Rentals accepts cash for the rental itself, paid before the trailer leaves the yard, and paying cash avoids the 3% card processing fee. The refundable security deposit must still go on a credit card — we cannot hold a deposit in cash.
